Are we nearly always the last resort?

It sometimes appears to me that Hypnotherapy is viewed as the last resort.

Having tried various forms of counselling, there are times when people turn up begrudgingly and against their own better judgement to try something that they are convinced is akin to voodoo!

It is true that Hypnotherapy doesn't work for everyone - and this can be because the person doesn't really want to or isn't quite ready for change.

No talking therapy has a 100% guarantee. Hypnosis however can be a very quick and effective alternative to weeks of traditional CBT therapy.

Here are a few tips for working successfully with your Hypnotherapist.

  • A lot of Hypnotherapists offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation - this is a good time to evaluate whether you like the sound of the Hypnotherapist. (It is very important to like your Hypnotherapist)

  • Are you seeing a therapist because you are ready to work on something that is bothering you OR have you been sent by someone else who wants you to change (stop smoking)? If you are the first option, then you are much more likely to get the results you want.

  • Hypnotherapists do not put you into Hypnosis .... they guide you through a process that enables you to use self -- hypnosis. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.

  • Manage your expectations - Hypnotherapists cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do. We can however guide you into a deeply relaxed state where you can choose to make the helpful and positive changes that you want.

  • When you see your Hypnotherapist enter your session with a sense of curiosity .... imagine what it will be like when you have made the changes you want, see yourself in your changed state and enjoy and go with the process...

I hope this helps - If you would like to know more, please get in touch.
